Description:
At different altitudes, the Catena family’s Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards express a unique profile of aromas and flavors: the black currant and cassis fruit flavors and ripe, sweet tannins of the La Pirámide vineyard (3,100’ elevation); the spicy aromatics and pepper notes of the Domingo vineyard (3,700’ elevation); the finely grained tannins of the Altamira vineyard (3,870’ elevation); the minerality and notes of eucalyptus of the Adrianna vineyard (5,000’). The blend of these components creates a wine of unique character that has balance, concentration and a strong varietal identity. Aromas of sweet juicy raspberry fruit and black pepper give way to flavors of the same in this full-bodied Cab. The wine is dense and brawny with dark currant, coffee and tobacco aromas and flavors. There is a slightly chewy and full feel in the mouth which then turns into a smoky and robust finish. This is a big wine that deserves to be enjoyed with food. Grilled meats and roasted vegetables mingled with herbs would pair wonderfully with this wine.
