Description:
Lang & Reed was founded by John & Tracey Skupny in 1993 with the intent to produce wines from Cabernet Franc vineyards in the Napa Valley. John has been in the wine business for over 20 years, having worked with premium wine estates such as Caymus, Clos Du Val and Niebaum-Coppola. Unlike some Napa Valley wine producers, they did not start out with a lot of money, only their paychecks. They have no partners or investors, no employees or consultants. They grow the grapes themselves. They make the wine themselves. The Lang & Reed Cabernet Franc is a wine that is much about charm, beginning with a rich aroma that is perfume-like, with scents of violet, dried herbs and raspberries. When the wine first hits the palate the initial aromatics are repeated followed by a wash of fresh cherry, anise and red plum or red currant. Cabernet Franc is a powerful grape that can really take over the palate. This Franc, while extremely powerful, conveys great balanced flavors and a very bright flavor for such dark and coarse fruits. This wine is a great match with ribs or a grilled, bacon-wrapped filet.
